The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra (ICO) has been named one of three lead orchestras in a new national consortium. This consortium is part of the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation Orchestral Commissions Program, an initiative of the League of American Orchestras in partnership with the American Composers Orchestra (ACO). The program aims to commission new full-length works by women and nonbinary composers and secure multiple performances throughout the country.

ICO will partner with composer Stacy Garrop for a performance of a new work in 2026. The consortium is composed of orchestras from nine states and includes three orchestra-composer pairs:

• Stacy Garrop with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra (lead orchestra) from Indiana, along with Johnstown Symphony Orchestra in Pennsylvania and Lexington Philharmonic in Kentucky.

• Angel Lam with the Quad City Symphony Orchestra (lead orchestra) from Iowa, along with Columbus Symphony in Ohio and Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra in Georgia.

• Leanna Primiani with ROCO (lead orchestra) from Texas, along with Symphony of the Rockies in Colorado and Wheeling Symphony Orchestra in West Virginia.
