ATLANTA — Maurice Walker, 36, was taken into custody by the Atlanta Police Department on July 25, 2025, and is charged with simple assault in connection with a domestic violence incident at 585 McDaniel Street SW on July 25, 2025. Walker sustained an apparent gunshot wound during this incident and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He will be transported to the Fulton County Jail after his recovery, authorities said.

Preliminary information released previously indicates that on July 25, 2025, at approximately 8:28 p.m., officers responded to 585 McDaniel Street SW regarding a person shot. Officers located a 36-year-old male with an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen. The male was alert, conscious, and breathing, and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Investigators with the Aggravated Assault Unit responded to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
