The Atlanta Police Department responded to a call on May 18, 2022, at 3101 Piedmont Road about a disruptive armed guest at a restaurant. It was revealed that the individual in question was 22-year-old Nygil Cullins, who was a former employee of the business and was behaving erratically by yelling at employees and trying to obtain alcohol.

In March 2023, the City of Atlanta facilitated a meeting between Mr. Cullins' family, their legal representatives, NAACP representatives, and city officials to view the footage of the incident. The decision to release the footage was made in consultation with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Fulton County District Attorney's Office.

The released video includes slowed-down segments with markers to highlight crucial evidence in the incident. Blurring has been applied to adhere to social media guidelines. The footage, which consists of body-worn camera recordings from the involved officers, restaurant surveillance footage, and 911 call recordings, is accessible via a link provided on the Atlanta Police Department's website.
