**Union County Announces Events for Hispanic Heritage Month**
The Union County Board of County Commissioners has released a calendar of events to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month this September and October.
The events begin on September 16 with a flag-raising ceremony at the Union County Courthouse located at 2 Broad Street, Elizabeth, starting at 4:45 PM.
Later in September, two movie nights will take place:
- "The Book of Life" will be screened at Kawameeh Park, located at David Ter and Thoreau Ter, Union, at 6:30 PM.
- "Dora and the Lost City of Gold" will be shown at Washington Elementary School, 427 Darrow Ave, Plainfield, at 4:30 PM.
In October, events continue with Family Fun Day on October 5, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Warinanco Park. If it rains, the event will be moved indoors to the Warinanco Sports Center.
Also on October 5, there will be a Hispanic Leadership Event from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM featuring Anna D. Martinez, Director of the NJ Division on Women, held at the Union College of Union County in Cranford.
On October 12, "Mexico Beyond Mariachi: Trekking Mexico" will be presented by the City of Rahway at the Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC), located at 1601 Irving Street, Rahway, starting at 3:00 PM. Tickets for this event are $6 each and can be purchased online at ucpac.org.
This collection of events aims to honor and celebrate the contributions of Hispanic culture within Union County.
